SAREE Tutorial

There are many different ways to wear a saree, for example: the Deccan style, the Tamil style and the Kashta
The base is always the same:

The sari has an inside, outside, top and bottom.

You start with the non-decorated part.

The bottom of the sari is level with the floor.

Step 1:
Grab the saree behind your back
The rest of the fabric you put on your right on the floor.

Step 2: Put the fabric over your right hip bone away into the petticoat and also put the rest of the first winding
up to the beginning inside of the petticoat.

Step 3: Now about half or two thirds of the remaining fabric should be folded with your left hand in orderly folds

and be put between the petticoat.

Step 4: Wrap the fabric between thumb and little finger in the shape of an eight and put the pleats in the middle
front of the petticoat.

Step 5: For the currently most popular way, the "Nivi" style, the flap at the waist in the back is removed from the

left to the right hip.

Step 6: The flap is brought forward from behind.

Step 7: The flap is being turned back over the left shoulder.

The part that is draped over the shoulder is often richly decorated and named pallu.
